The trip report: Trip report and plans for the Carroll shelter house,

Tom Grant and I drove to Carroll on 10/20/24 to drop off a load of concrete blocks I plan to use to build a masonry wall around the firebox on the south end of the shelter house. I obtained the rock (purchase/donation) from a gentleman in Cleveland Mo. My pickup was heavily loaded, and we pulled a loaded 16’ trailer. Thanks to Tom for helping unload and stack the blocks.

On arrival, we checked the electric mower and found the battery low and not charging. There was power to the charger. I placed the key in the mower and fiddled with the charger plug at the mower and could sometimes see the LCD on the mower light up. I found that by pushing hard on the plug into the socket on the mower I could get the mower to charge. If I released the pressure gently it continued to charge. Initially, at about noon, the mower showed 12.5% charge. At my last check before departing at 2:30 the charge was 62.5%. We left the charger on and locked up. I’ll bring contact cleaner next time. Hopefully the mower will be fully charged and ready for badly needed mowing next time someone is down.

Future shelter work:

I have three-day work weekends planned for Nov 15-17 and Nov 22-24. Marty Griffin, Jeff Bowman, Craig Hines, and Jim Cooley are available to help the first weekend and Bill Gee is available for the Nov 22 weekend. I’ll be there both weekends, I hope you can help.
